How important is microsoft office stardard edition 2003 on a home computer?

What does it do? My mother checks her email and IM's. She does do much more reseach or No work on it.

It's a very expensive program, the new version (2008) is around $200. Only delete it if you have almost no space left on the hard drive. There is also a free version called openoffice from openoffice.org, if you decide to delete it you can always get that one.

Yes you can delete it, but it may come to use if you want to write a letter..., You can delete it or take it out of your start up programs, type in msconfig and look for the start up programs and click it off.
If your mom doesn't use any office programs go ahead and uninstall it. It won't make a bit of difference.
