Has anyone ever taken a Microsoft Office skills test during the job interview process?

Is it basic and general or very specific and something I should be dedicating a good chunk of time to review? Do you know of any sites listing the most common questions for these tests?

Yes, and it's not a question/answer test. It is actually using the MS software to create spreadsheets or write letters. Or, they will give you a stack of forms and ask you to create a database and then enter the data. They will give you a copy of a letter or something and ask you to type it up using the MS software. It is not a paper T/F, fill in the blank, or multiple choice type test. So, it is truly a skills test, not a knowledge test.

I took the test. It is based on basic skill knowledge on several different programs in the Microsoft Office. It depends on what you know because I was tested over, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook. So, what ever you are not real good at, you might want to brush up on it. Otherwise, good luck.
The format of the test would depend on the company. Typically they'd give you some short, hands-on task to perform. It's very unlikely to be a question-and-answer multiple choice test.
It depends on the employer. If you're decent at getting around in Office, and/or decent at figuring a program out on the fly, you'll do fine. Only put in some time to learn Office if you have never really used it. My experience is, that it's relatively specific, but basic and easy to ''find'' the answer on the fly if necessary.
